In the city of Chania on Crete, a clinic was created for the needs of two doctors with different specialties. Approaching their own professional needs and giving particular emphasis to the functionality of the space for visitors and employees, the layout of the 125 sq.m. area was organised.
The basic idea lies between the concepts of "city" and "island". With elements inspired by a ship hold, textures and geometric shapes were created, vertical wooden blinds were installed in the kitchen and WC areas, maintaining clean design lines. The reception furniture, designed exclusively for the specific area, creates the image of a ship's bow as a modern construction, adapted to the functional needs of its users.
With an architectural lighting study, the distinct separation of the waiting area from the work areas was achieved, using different K (kelvin). Light is used as a material to guide visitors through the area, simultaneously creating volume and clarity on the surfaces. FLOS luminaires complement the architectural lighting, highlighting characteristic curves that oppose the concentration of straight and strict lines in the area.
